I’m not going to tell you how your game plan should be, but the only advice I can give you is to replay levels over and over again [the ones that you've already completed] and gain experience and money that you need to upgrade your units and buy new cards for your army. When you gain experience and money for your army you can then buy new upgrades and units, soon or later you will eventually be able to defeat any opposition. I hope that helps.

Epic Mode is attainable once you’ve completed completed Normal Mode and the three extra stages [the three stages are unlockable after you've complete the normal campaign]. I hope that helps!
